An update, a year late

I know I haven't written in a very long time.  I've thought about it many times but things just changed so much since Faith passed away and my heart hasn't been in things.  I think that was clear in the decrease of my posts and the shortness of them.

We still have Cash and Paisley.  Cash is healed from his accident, although his back has never looked the same since then and the vets think he will have arthritis and possibly hip dysplasia later in life.

We still have guinea and chickens, although we have lost a couple in the last year.

The county has completely torn up the front of the property, moved the drainage ditch closer to our home where the trees used to be, and ripped up our driveway.  They haven't started laying the asphalt closer, but that's due to the weather.

We survived the snow storm, and that is probably the only interesting thing I have to share pictures of.

Don't let them fool you, they barely shoveled at all

I am thinking we will do the garden again this year and so we cut up the fallen tree and hauled it out of the garden area before the storm hit.  Hopefully I'll get motivated enough to finish weeding and getting the area ready once the weather gets a little warmer.

More Snow Days

Yes, for those family members and friends on the West Coast, it's snowing here...

I guess the weathermen were right

It's pretty rare when the weather reports about snow are correct around here so we stopped believing them several years ago.  We typically go with the "when we see it, then we'll know" theory.

They were calling for 8-24 inches as the days went on, and it did start snowing last night.  I was pretty shocked to see all of this when I looked outside though.

Baby it's cold outside...

It snowed on Tuesday but it wasn't a wet snow that would allow for snowmen and snowball fights.  It sure does a good job of covering the dirty property and making things look cleaner than they really are.  :)

Schools have been closed because the roads aren't safe enough for cars and the sidewalks aren't safe enough for kids, so we've been trapped inside for the most part.  I'll let the pictures do the talking...

Going into hiding

It's snowing.... and not everyone  is happy about it.

The goats actually tried going under the new coop.  Apparently that's better than their houses.

Just a little freezing on the farm

We had our first accumulation of snow here, and then things melted just slightly, and froze again.  It was a cold morning with a lot of ice and I'm not sure anyone on the farm has experienced this before, other than me.

A cut of hot water was needed to get into the goat pen

Every branch was draped in ice
I've been thinking about how the roof to the chicken run needs a major update and cleaning, this morning confirmed that for another icy reason.

Snow Day

It was our first snow day in the house (the new goats were born today but that post trumped this one).
5:30 AM, each goat hiding in their own house

Just a little sledding

A garden will be here very soon

Clyde was the only one to venture out in the snow - I found his footprints all the way by the house
